We've all heard the old adage “exercise is medicine,” and it is more important now than ever to stay on top of your health and get your daily exercise in. Now that people are staying home to slow the spread of coronavirus, they find themselves working out a lot less which can weaken the body's defences. A researcher has found that one of the best ways to combat diseases like the coronavirus is through exercise. 

THE FACTS

A researcher by the name of Zhen Yan, PhD, of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, has found that when we exercise our muscles produce an antioxidant Known as “extracellular superoxide dismutase” or EcSOD. It helps with protecting organ tissue and preventing respiratory disease. Exercise, particularly cardiovascular exercise, enhances production of this antioxident. Yan has made the recommendation to exercise since we cannot all live in isolation forever.
