Who Can Do CrossFit?

We mean it when we say CrossFit is for everyone, no matter your age or fitness level. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a complete beginner, there is a place for you in the CrossFit community!

Everyone starts their CrossFit journey with our On Ramp Program specifically designed for those who haven’t done CrossFit before and is adapted for each individual. One of the things that sets CrossFit apart from other fitness programs is its focus on functional movements. These are movements that mimic everyday activities and are designed to make you stronger, faster, and more agile in your daily life. For example, squats mimic the motion of sitting down and standing up, while pull-ups mimic the motion of pulling yourself up onto a ledge. By practicing these functional movements, you will build endurance, flexibility, and balance, which will help you in all aspects of your life.

Why CrossFit Works

CrossFit is an effective exercise program that utilizes functional movements, constant variation, and high intensity to help people achieve their fitness goals. Functional movements are the foundation of CrossFit because they mimic real-life movements that are essential for daily living. By incorporating exercises like squats, deadlifts, and push-ups, CrossFit helps people build strength and endurance that can translate into improved quality of life.

The constantly varied aspect of CrossFit workouts keeps the body guessing and prevents plateauing. CrossFit athletes perform a wide variety of movements, from weightlifting to gymnastics to running and more, ensuring that no two workouts are the same. This variety helps to improve overall fitness and prevent boredom, while also challenging the body to adapt to new movements and stimuli.

The final key element to CrossFit is high intensity. CrossFit workouts are designed to push people, with AMRAPs, EMOMs (Every Minute on the Minute), and other formats that encourage athletes to give their all. This intensity helps to improve cardiovascular fitness, burn fat, and build muscle, all while improving mental toughness and resilience.

Overall, CrossFit’s combination of functional movements, constant variation, and high intensity creates a powerful fitness program that can be adapted to meet individual needs and goals. By joining a supportive community of like-minded individuals and working with certified coaches, CrossFit athletes can achieve significant improvements in their health and fitness.

What type of workouts will I do at CrossFit?

CrossFit workouts are diverse and challenging, which is why they're so effective at building functional fitness.

In a typical CrossFit class, you might find yourself performing an AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) workout, which involves completing a set of exercises as many times as possible within a fixed time frame. Alternatively, you might encounter an EMOM (Every Minute On the Minute) workout, which requires completing a certain number of reps within a minute and then resting for the remainder of the minute. Strength cycles are also a common feature of CrossFit workouts, in which you focus on building strength in a particular lift or movement over several weeks. Other types of workouts you might encounter in CrossFit include chipper workouts (completing a long list of exercises in sequence), partner workouts, and benchmark workouts (such as the infamous "Fran" workout).

Regardless of the type of workout, CrossFit classes are designed to push you to your limits and help you reach your fitness goals.
