Friends bring joy and companionship into our lives. But, friends can be busy with their own lives. So what do we do when our human friends are busy? Well, we've all heard the saying, "a man's best friend". Pets, especially dogs make outstanding friends that encourage and improve physical and mental wellness. When you consider the unconditional love and cuteness pets bring with them, there are countless reasons pets can and will improve your overall health.

Pets Need Physical Activity & So Do You!

Pets, espeically dogs, need frequent physical activity to burn up their huge stores of energy and keep them healthy! Excercise such as walks or runs are great ways for pets (and their owners!) to burn energy. Like humans, pets need excercise to mantain optimum health and prevent buildups of excess fat.

Getting outside for some physical activity with your pet increases companionship and can help you and your pet get into a healthy routine of getting daily excercise. Being outdoors with your pet can help take your mind off of the everyday stressors of life and focus it on your excercise and the world around you. Not only do daily walks and/or runs with your pet improve your physical wellness, they'll also improve your mental wellness.

Physical activity promotes mental wellness. Daily physical activity leads to the release of endorphins, your brains happy chemicals. These endorphins will improve your mood and your overall happiness. Being outdoors also helps us reconnect with nature and improves mental and physical health. There's nothing better than feeling the warm sun on your skin while out on a nature walk. Your pet will love it too!
